Walking Group

The Parish walking group meets on Fridays and Saturdays of alternate weeks. The Friday walk starts after the morning Mass at 10.00am and is generally about 4 miles. The walk is normally local but sometimes involves a short car journey to the starting point. Never difficult, but encompassing slight hills and some stiles, the walks are taken at a pace which suits the slowest member of the group. It is important to remember of course that a degree of fitness is required, and sturdy walking shoes/boots are essential.

At the end of each walk lunch is taken in a pub or café depending on the locality. The lunch is optional and should not deter people from joining the walk if they have other commitments in the afternoon.

Generally the walks and following lunch are seen as social occasions, not as a keep fit regime.

The Saturday walks start at Church at 0930am, are generally longer than those on Friday, about 6 miles, and may contain a greater degree of difficulty. They are therefore more suited to the fitter walker, but can still be tackled by those who are willing to stretch themselves. More often than not transport to the starting point is essential but regular walkers quite often have spare places in their cars. Lunch on the Saturday walks follows the same format as that on a Friday.

If you enjoy walking as a pastime and would like to come along to see some beautiful scenery, enjoy a good natter, and meet some new friends, just turn up on the day or get further information by calling Peter Pascoe on 01924 250674. Peter, and Eamonn McQuoid who also leads the walks, will be delighted to meet new members.
