The Sacrament of Holy Communion

One of the seven sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church.

A Gift from God for our Salvation; Holy Communion is one of the "three" sacraments of Christian initiation - Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist.

The Holy Eucharist...

The Holy Eucharist completes Christian Initiation. And those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism, and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation participate with the whole community in the Lord's own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist.   ( Catechism - 1322 )

Scriptural Reference

Scripture teaches us that unless we eat his flesh and drink his blood, we have no life in us. The miracle which transforms the bread on the alter enables us as Catholics to be nourished by Christ himself..

Information about Holy Communion programmes

Here at St Peter and St Paul's we have a highly competent team of catechists who prepare children for the first sacraments - reconciliation and Eucharist.  In this Diocese, children make their first confession one year and then their first communion the next.  Please speak to the priest in the parish centre after Mass if you would like your child to join the programmes of preparation and look out for more information in the parish bulletin.
